The Accusative Case of Animate Nouns (singular)

Animate and Inanimate masluline nouns in Accusative have different endings. Inanimate masculine nouns have one form for Accusative and for Nominative (see the grammeer notes to the lesson 4).

But animate nouns of masculine gendre change:

Антон и Виктор друзья. Антон знает Виктора, а Виктор знает Антона.

BUT! Animate nouns of feminine gender in singular in Accusative have the same endings as inanimate ones.

When? Days of week

Compare:

  • Сегодня понедельник.
  • В понедельник я обычно работаю.
  • Во вторник, в среду, в четверг и в пятницу я тоже работаю.
  • Когда я отдыхаю? Я отдыхаю в субботу и в воскресенье.
  • Вокресенье было вчера. Вчера, в воскресенье, я отдыхал.

The Prepositional with the meaning of The Subject of a Thought or a Speech.

Prepositional Case with thу preposition "about"

Nouns which denote object of a trought or a speech take the Preposional case with preposition "o" about. Usually you meet these nouns after such verbs as говорить, думать, рассказывать, помнить and others.

Джон думает о чемодане и о Марии.

John tells about Moscow.

If you'd like to ask about the subject of a thought or a speech you should start the questions with prenouns кто, что in Prepositional case: о ком? о чём?
